The objective of the Thematic Meeting is to provide a forum for the presentation of successful multi-stakeholder partnerships for bridging the digital divide and stimulating debate on the institutional, economic, political and social conditions that contribute to or impede their success.

Invitation to Consultation on Amendments to the IT Act 2000 (in India)
One World South Asia would like to draw your attention to the recently proposed Amendments to the Information Technology Act 2000. As you are probably aware, an Expert Committee under the Chairmanship of Shri Brijesh Kumar, Secretary, Department of Information Technology (DIT) with representatives, from the IT industry was set up to review the IT act of 2000.

Consultative Meeting on Right to Information in India
The Central Right to Information Act 2005 was passed by the parliament this year and subsequently GoI has gazetted the act. The act will be fully enforced by the 12th Oct 2005. There is a major effort initiated by the Govt and various depts, to designate the information commissioners as reqd by the act as well as the public information officers who will be interacting with the citizens and facilitating the actual implementation.
